Michael Saylor’s Strategy Continues Bitcoin-Buying Spree, Adds $22,000,000 Worth of BTC

The Bitcoin treasury firm Strategy (MSTR) has stacked BTC for four weeks in a row, adding $22 million worth of the top crypto asset in the past seven days.
Strategy says it accumulated 250 Bitcoin at an average purchase price of $86,194 per BTC, stretching its total holdings to 848,250 BTC.
The firm added 2,949 Bitcoin in the three weeks leading up to that latest purchase, spending a total of $248 million.
The recent purchase follows a summer in which Strategy conducted its first Bitcoin sales since 2022. Those sales materialized under the company’s newly introduced BTC monetization program, designed to bolster Strategy’s cash reserves and support dividend payments.
On Monday, Strategy chairman Michael Saylor also noted the firm repurchased $192 million worth of STRC, the firm’s perpetual preferred stock that pays 12.00% annual dividends. STRC is designed to have a par value of around $100 and is currently trading at $99.89.
Strategy was the first public company to adopt Bitcoin as its sole treasury reserve asset and remains the world’s largest corporate BTC holder by a wide margin.
The summer’s sales marked a dramatic shift in tone for the firm after Saylor spent years encouraging investors to “never sell” their BTC.
Now, however, Saylor maintains that vocal never-sell approach was just in reference to his personal wallet.
“When I say ‘Never Sell Your Bitcoin,’ I speak as one saver to another. I have never sold mine. Not one satoshi. Strategy is a public company, not my wallet. Since 2020, it has disclosed it may buy or sell BTC to manage capital. Our shared conviction in Bitcoin remains unchanged.”

New Delhi: India’s retail inflation is expected to average 5-5.2 per cent in FY27, with rising food prices, weather-related disruptions and the ongoing West Asia conflict posing upside risks and potentially creating room for further Reserve Bank of India (RBI) rate hikes in the near term, according to a research report by Bank of Baroda.
The report noted inflationary pressures could intensify as higher input costs are passed on to consumers. It also flagged the possibility of elevated crude oil prices adding to fuel inflation, while underlying demand pressures could keep core inflation firm.
India’s consumer price index (CPI)-based inflation rose to 5.5 per cent year-on-year in September from 4.8 per cent in August, reaching a near two-year high. Consumer food price inflation accelerated to 7.7 per cent during the month, around 170 basis points higher than in August.
Food prices were a major driver of the increase, with onion inflation surging to 108 per cent in September from 48.8 per cent in the previous month. Pulses inflation also increased to 4.7 per cent from 3.6 per cent, while edible oils, cereals, sugar, milk, dairy products, eggs, fruits and ready-made food recorded significant price pressures.
The report noted that global food prices were also showing signs of pressure, with higher cereal and edible oil prices. Wheat prices increased amid logistical constraints in the Black Sea region, while maize prices rose due to lower-than-expected US yields and reduced export availability from Brazil. Higher palm oil prices also contributed to edible oil inflation.
Core inflation, which excludes food and fuel, rose to 4.3 per cent in September. Transport inflation increased to 5 per cent from 4.6 per cent in August, while inflation in clothing and footwear climbed to 3.9 per cent from 3.6 per cent. Restaurant and accommodation services also contributed to higher core inflation.
Bank of Baroda, in its report, highlighted deficient monsoon rainfall, lower reservoir levels and strengthening El Niño conditions as risks to food prices in the coming months. The ongoing West Asia conflict and elevated crude oil prices could further add to inflationary pressures.
Headline inflation has remained above the RBI’s 4 per cent target for the fourth consecutive month. The report said the impact of second-round price increases would also need close monitoring, as persistent inflation could strengthen the case for monetary tightening.

Intel's D270 data center GPU, formerly codenamed Crescent Island, bets on memory capacity and efficiency over raw training muscle
Intel has started putting its new D-Series data center GPUs into customers’ hands for testing. The chips mark the company’s latest attempt to win a meaningful slice of the AI hardware market.
The pitch is not about building the biggest, fastest training monster on the block. Intel is aiming at AI inference, the part of the job where trained models actually answer questions.
What Intel is shipping
The D-Series was previously known by its codename, Crescent Island. It is built on Intel’s Xe3P architecture.
The flagship model is the D270. Intel is positioning it for AI inference and agentic workloads, meaning AI systems that take multi-step actions instead of answering a single prompt and stopping.
On paper, the D270 delivers a peak compute of approximately 1.3 PFLOPs at FP8 precision. FP8 is a lower-precision number format that trades a bit of numerical detail for much faster math.
That performance comes with a thermal design power of 350W.
Under the hood, the chip packs 32 Xe3P cores and 256 XMX engines. The XMX engines are Intel’s dedicated matrix-math units, which handle the heavy multiplication that neural networks run on. A unified 32 MB L2 cache ties the design together.
The memory bet
The most interesting choice is the memory. Instead of HBM, the high-bandwidth memory used in many competing accelerators, the D270 uses LPDDR5X.

Intel’s reference configuration ships with 160 GB of LPDDR5X. Partners can expand that to 480 GB. Peak memory bandwidth is estimated at around 1.5 TB/s.
Intel says it is targeting long-context and agentic AI applications with a value-oriented approach. Intel’s argument centers on high memory capacity relative to power draw and cost, rather than chasing peak bandwidth numbers.
Built to slot into existing racks
The D270 uses an air-cooled design and a PCIe Gen5 form factor. PCIe cards plug into standard servers, so data center operators can add them without rebuilding their infrastructure around exotic cooling or proprietary boards.
Crescent Island emphasizes scalability and integration over sheer training performance.
Timeline and the Xeon connection
Customer sampling for the D270 is targeted for the second half of 2026. Intel planned previews at Computex and Hot Chips 2026 ahead of broader availability.
The D-Series is also part of a bigger strategic play. Intel wants to pair its GPUs with its Xeon processors to build more complete AI inference systems. Intel’s OEM partners include ASUS, Dell, and HPE.
What this means
Intel is framing the D270 as a cost-effective option for AI workloads that competes with offerings from NVIDIA and AMD.
The risks are real. LPDDR5X offers capacity, but its bandwidth sits well below what HBM-based designs can deliver, and some workloads are bandwidth-hungry.
The thing to watch is customer feedback from the sampling phase in the second half of 2026. Early reactions should show whether enterprises see the D270 as a genuine alternative or a niche option.

A record trading day, a new spot ETF and a proposed supply cut have put NEAR back in the top 20 digital assets
NEAR Protocol’s native token climbed 16% over the weekend, according to The Motley Fool. Trading activity piled in right alongside it.
The numbers behind the run
The sharpest single burst came on October 10, 2026. NEAR gained as much as 11% that day and touched $6.00 on Binance.
It later cooled to around $5.64. Daily trading volume hit a record of approximately $3.54 billion, a 98% increase.
Over the four weeks leading into mid-October, NEAR rose by at least 83%. Some measurements put the gain far higher, in the range of 138-172%.
That rally pushed NEAR’s market capitalization to around $7.2 billion when the token traded near $5.50. The token is back inside the top 20 digital assets.
What’s driving the demand
NEAR Intents. This is NEAR’s cross-chain feature. Users describe the outcome they’re after, and the system routes it across blockchains.

NEAR Intents has recorded more than $31-33 billion in cumulative cross-chain volume across over 30 chains. September swap volume reached $4.8 billion, a 72.9% jump from the prior month.
The Bitwise ETF. Bitwise launched the first US spot NEAR ETF on September 29, 2026, trading under the ticker NRR. The fund drew nearly $58 million in inflows during its first week.
A proposed supply cut. A governance proposal would lower NEAR’s maximum annual token issuance from 2.5% to 1.6% over the next 24 months. The proposal is still underway, not finalized.
The exploit that didn’t stick
In early October, NEAR Intents was hit by a $3.8 million exploit. The funds were recovered within 24 hours. The token showed no lasting damage from the incident.
What this means for NEAR and the altcoin market
If the issuance proposal passes, the drop from 2.5% to 1.6% would phase in over 24 months. The token already slid from $6.00 to around $5.64 within the same session on October 10.
The signals worth tracking are fairly clear: whether NEAR Intents keeps posting monthly volume growth after September’s $4.8 billion, whether NRR inflows hold up past launch week, and how the governance vote on issuance resolves.

The bank's digital asset chief says tokenized real-world assets could reach $3 trillion to $10 trillion, far above its own base case from a month earlier
Morgan Stanley thinks the market for tokenized real-world assets could reach between $3 trillion and $10 trillion by 2030.
Today that market sits at approximately $38.6-$40 billion. Getting to the low end of the forecast would require growth measured in multiples, not percentages.
The projection came from Amy Oldenburg, Morgan Stanley’s Head of Digital Asset Strategy, speaking at the TOKEN2049 conference on October 12, 2026. She did not frame it as a long shot.
She called the forecast “without question.”
A big jump from last month’s math
The new range is notably more aggressive than Morgan Stanley’s own earlier view. In a release the previous month, September 2026, the firm put its base-case forecast for tokenized RWAs at $2.3 trillion by 2030.
So within weeks, the low end of the conference estimate landed above the firm’s published base case. The high end is more than four times that figure.
Right now, that plumbing is dominated by one product. Tokenized US Treasuries account for about $14.6 billion of the on-chain RWA market.
That works out to more than a third of the total.
The news moving money, markets, and the world—before your day starts. Daily. Free. Join 34,000+ readers across crypto, finance, and policy. Email address Subscribe free We respect your privacy. Unsubscribe anytime.
Morgan Stanley’s research also breaks the opportunity into specific use cases. The firm forecasts total collateral mobility at $1.7T and treasury management at $400B by 2030.
The equities timeline slips
Optimism on market size came paired with a more cautious note on execution. Morgan Stanley has pushed back its timeline for supporting tokenized equities on its alternative trading system (ATS) to Q1 2027, rather than the previously anticipated H2 2026.
Oldenburg tied the delay to the market itself. In her view, the firm needs to see more tokenized offerings and more institutional demand before flipping the switch.
Oldenburg also pointed to where tokenization could deliver the most value. She identified private shares, structured notes and investment funds as key candidates for efficiency gains.
Why the growth thesis rests on institutions
Oldenburg attributed the expected growth to rising institutional interest. She also described a mutual reinforcement effect, where advances in different corners of finance feed off one another.
The logic runs roughly like this. More tokenized products attract more institutional users. More users justify more infrastructure, which in turn makes it easier to issue more products.
What this means
The gap between the two Morgan Stanley figures is worth watching. A $2.3 trillion base case and a $3 trillion to $10 trillion range describe very different worlds, and the spread reflects real uncertainty about adoption speed.
The current composition of the market also deserves scrutiny. With tokenized US Treasuries making up the largest single slice, growth into the trillions would require meaningful expansion beyond government debt into the private shares, structured notes and funds Oldenburg highlighted.
The Q1 2027 ATS date is the nearest concrete milestone. If Morgan Stanley hits it, that would suggest the institutional demand Oldenburg is waiting for has started to materialize. Another delay would suggest the market is moving slower than the bank’s rhetoric.

Russell Thompson sees buying opportunities in Bitcoin as ETF outflows and Middle East tensions test its recent trading range.
Bitcoin remained near the lower end of its recent trading range Monday as inflation concerns, expectations of further Federal Reserve tightening and the Middle East conflict continued to weigh on sentiment.
The largest crypto asset by market cap last traded near $82,400, down about 1.5% in the past 24 hours. Since rallying toward $87,000 on September 21, Bitcoin has spent much of the past three weeks between roughly $82,000 and $87,000, with brief moves outside that band, including last week’s decline toward $80,000.
Its recovery from that selloff has kept the broader consolidation intact. But with Bitcoin back below $83,000, buyers still need to reclaim a level that has repeatedly served as support during the period.
“I would say right now Bitcoin is a buy on dips,” Russell Thompson, chief investment officer at digital asset investment firm Hilbert Group, said in commentary shared with Crypto Briefing.
Thompson identified initial support at $80,000 to $81,000, followed by trend line support around $77,000. He cautioned that the seven day and 21 day moving average crossover tracked by his team had turned bearish, while options positioning pointed to a maximum pain level around $78,000.
“The market needs to break out of its range, the top of which is just above 87,000,” he said. “A material daily close above that could open a move to somewhere around 93,000 to 97,000.”
ETF demand cools as liquidations hit both sides
The consolidation has followed a strong burst of ETF buying that has since weakened.
US spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $2.33 billion in net inflows between September 21 and September 30, according to a Crypto Briefing calculation of Farside Investors data. Almost $1 billion arrived on September 21 alone, followed by another $714.7 million the next day.
That demand reversed in early October. The funds recorded approximately $386.3 million in net outflows across the first seven trading sessions of the month through October 9.
Last week alone accounted for $678.9 million in net redemptions, including $484.9 million on October 7 and $244.1 million on October 8. A modest $21.1 million inflow on Friday interrupted that selling.
The news moving money, markets, and the world—before your day starts. Daily. Free. Join 34,000+ readers across crypto, finance, and policy. Email address Subscribe free We respect your privacy. Unsubscribe anytime.
Leverage has also amplified moves in both directions. The September 21 rally coincided with nearly $919 million in crypto short liquidations over 24 hours, according to CoinGlass data.
By September 29, roughly $500 million in leveraged crypto positions had been liquidated over a separate 24 hour period as Bitcoin slipped below $83,000.
Selling intensified again last week. CoinGlass data showed about $1.12 billion in marketwide liquidations over 24 hours on October 8, including $1.04 billion in long positions. Bitcoin accounted for approximately $286 million of the total.
While that selloff largely flushed out longs, short positions could come under pressure if Bitcoin recovers. CoinGlass’s Binance Bitcoin liquidation heatmap shows a notable cluster around $84,300.
A move through that area could force shorts to close and add momentum to a rebound. With Bitcoin below $83,000 at press time, however, reclaiming that level remains the nearer test.
Sentiment has cooled alongside prices. CoinMarketCap’s Crypto Fear and Greed Index stood at 55 at press time, in neutral territory, compared with a reading of 69 reported on October 2.
Oil risks complicate Bitcoin’s recovery
The Middle East conflict remains a source of pressure as threats to energy infrastructure and shipping routes keep inflation risks in focus. Bitcoin’s October 8 decline coincided with Brent crude moving back above $102 a barrel and Treasury yields rising.
In comments shared with Crypto Briefing, Thompson warned that Saudi Arabia’s growing involvement was widening the conflict.
“I don’t expect any meaningful pullback in oil unless a deal emerges in the Middle East,” he said.
For Bitcoin, persistent energy pressure complicates the inflation outlook and the prospect of easier monetary policy. Thompson said recent Fed minutes and futures pricing pointed toward renewed tightening rather than an imminent cut.
Bitcoin has so far absorbed those pressures without sustaining a break below its broader consolidation. For buyers, the immediate challenge is to recover $83,000 and rebuild momentum toward $84,300. Thompson said a material daily close above $87,000 could open a move toward $93,000 to $97,000.

Circle's stablecoin kept decentralized markets busy on Saturdays and Sundays, when traditional bank transfers sit idle
Banks close for the weekend. Decentralized exchanges apparently never got that memo.
USDC, the dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle, traded $40.2 billion on decentralized exchanges during weekends in the third quarter, according to figures shared on X. All of that activity happened during the days when conventional bank transfers stop moving.
The weekend numbers
The $40.2 billion total covers USDC trading on DEXs across Q3 weekends. These venues match trades through smart contracts instead of brokers or clearinghouses.
Weekend stablecoin transfers could reach up to $38 billion in a single day, a pace that mirrors Visa’s typical daily transaction volume.
Visa’s daily average sits at roughly $40 billion. That makes the comparison less of a flex and more of a benchmark: on-chain dollars are now moving at card-network scale on days when wire desks are dark.
Total DEX trading volume across chains reached approximately $721.7 billion in Q3 2026, with stablecoins such as USDC and USDT accounting for a significant slice of that flow.
Recent 30-day stablecoin DEX volume landed in the $161 billion range.
Where USDC actually goes
Roughly 69% of USDC’s on-chain activity was tied to DEX liquidity provision.
The news moving money, markets, and the world—before your day starts. Daily. Free. Join 34,000+ readers across crypto, finance, and policy. Email address Subscribe free We respect your privacy. Unsubscribe anytime.
Liquidity provision means depositing tokens into pools that other traders swap against. The depositors earn fees, and the pools keep markets functioning at 3 a.m. on a Sunday.
Another 23% of USDC activity came from flashloans on platforms like Base and Aerodrome. A flashloan lets someone borrow funds and repay them within the same transaction, with no collateral required.
If the loan cannot be repaid by the end of that transaction, the whole thing simply reverses.
USDC’s circulating supply stood at around $74.6 billion by the end of September 2026.
In certain 2026 periods, USDC held approximately 77% of adjusted transfer volume across chains.
Background: a two-horse stablecoin race
The total stablecoin supply during Q3 2026 was estimated between $304 billion and $311 billion. USDT and USDC together controlled approximately 85% of that market.
What this means for traders, Circle and the banks
For Circle, the numbers support the case that USDC is a preferred tool for automated trading and liquidity management. Its strong turnover relative to USDT may make it more attractive to institutional players that value deep, active markets over raw supply figures.
When around 23% of activity comes from flashloans, headline totals can look larger than the amount of new capital actually moving through the system. Bots borrowing and repaying in the same transaction generate real volume, but not necessarily real economic demand. Liquidity provision is a stronger signal, since it reflects capital parked in pools rather than recycled in seconds.
Three things are worth watching next. First, whether USDC’s weekend DEX volume keeps pace as its $74.6 billion supply grows. Second, whether its turnover edge over USDT persists. Third, whether the mix shifts away from flashloans and toward longer-term liquidity.

The XRP-focused treasury company began trading under the ticker XRPN after closing its SPAC merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II
Evernorth Holdings started its life as a public company on a positive note. Shares of the XRP-focused treasury firm rose 5% on their Nasdaq debut on October 12, 2026, trading under the ticker XRPN.
The debut makes Evernorth what its backers describe as the first dedicated public vehicle built around XRP. Investors who want exposure to the token without dealing with wallets, keys or exchanges now have a stock to buy instead.
A volatile first day of trading
The opening pop was only part of the story. At its intraday high, the stock climbed as much as 13.43% above its starting level.
That enthusiasm cooled as the session went on. Shares ultimately closed about 1.5% higher, a far more modest result than the morning peak suggested.
Evernorth reached the market through a merger with Armada Acquisition Corp. II, a special purpose acquisition company. A SPAC is essentially a shell company that raises money first and finds a business to merge with later, giving that business a faster path to a public listing than a traditional IPO.
The listing was originally slated for October 8 but slipped because of administrative issues. Shareholders eventually signed off on the deal, and the merger closed on October 9. Trading began three days later.
The company has more ceremony ahead. Evernorth plans to ring the Nasdaq closing bell on October 14, 2026.

What Evernorth actually owns
Strip away the stock ticker and Evernorth is mostly a very large pile of XRP. At the close of the merger, the company held approximately 473 million XRP.
At a price of $1.39 per token, that stash was valued at roughly $657 million. The firm also had around $300 million in gross cash proceeds before expenses.
Evernorth says its goal is to increase the amount of XRP backing each share over time, rather than simply sitting on the tokens. To get there, the company plans to lean on several strategies: decentralized finance yield strategies, liquidity management, participation in the XRP ecosystem, and capital markets activity.
The people and money behind it
Evernorth named Hugo Jeandesboz as chief investment officer on the same day the stock began trading. He previously served as co-CIO of Coinbase Asset Management.
The list of backers includes Ripple, Arrington Capital, SBI Group, Pantera Capital, Kraken and GSR.
What this means for investors and the market
The clearest impact is on access. Some investors, including certain funds and retirement accounts, cannot easily hold crypto directly but can buy Nasdaq-listed shares. Public companies have to file financial reports, which gives shareholders a clearer view of holdings than many crypto-native structures provide.
The trade-off is that a stock is not the token. XRPN shares can trade above or below the value of the XRP the company holds. DeFi yield can boost returns, but it introduces smart contract and counterparty exposure that a simple holding strategy avoids.
For now, the key metrics to monitor are straightforward. Watch how XRPN trades relative to the value of its roughly 473 million XRP, how the $300 million in cash gets deployed, and whether Jeandesboz’s team can show measurable progress on the XRP-per-share goal.
